Job Overview

Objective and Scope

The Specialty Business Solutions platform is a digital solution designed for brokers and underwriters to efficiently manage insurance contracts, including the drafting and endorsement processes.

The Quality Assurance Tester will play a crucial role in ensuring that Specialty Business Solutions continues to deliver high-quality software to its expanding clientele. Comprehensive and innovative testing is essential for the platform's success. The company is committed to providing an outstanding and user-friendly experience that outpaces its competitors.

This position requires an individual who is adaptable and eager to grow within the organization, with opportunities for professional development and training on proprietary and industry-specific systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Testing Activities

  • Perform testing on the Specialty Business Solutions platform through both web and mobile applications, including:

- Comprehensive end-to-end testing of current features that are not yet automated.

- Verification of issues identified during testing to ascertain if they are regressions or existing problems.

- Comprehensive end-to-end testing of newly developed features.

- Exploratory testing based on real-world business scenarios.

- Initial testing of new features following their release from development.

- Re-testing of issues as fixes are implemented.

  • Documenting testing evidence (including replication steps, screenshots, videos, etc.) in accordance with Specialty Business Solutions testing protocols.
  • Collaborating with Business Analysts and the Customer Experience team to clarify any business scenarios or platform behavior queries.
  • Engaging with fellow QA professionals to determine the validity of identified issues.
  • Logging issues in the designated systems while adhering to Specialty Business Solutions' issue documentation standards.
  • Conducting automation and API testing as necessary.

Test Script Development and Maintenance

  • Working with Business Analysts to create new test scripts as needed for new functional enhancements.
  • Updating existing test scripts to ensure they cover more complex business scenarios that may have been previously overlooked.

Insurance Industry Knowledge

  • Providing explanations of intricate insurance concepts to fellow QA team members to enhance their understanding of new functionalities and their operational logic.
  • Addressing inquiries from colleagues regarding specific behaviors and their potential impact on end users.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Acquainting oneself with new functional requirements to ensure a thorough understanding of business objectives.
  • When requested, contributing to the preparation of:

- Acceptance criteria for new functional enhancements

- Training materials and guides

- Release documentation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification
  • Professional insurance certifications are beneficial but not mandatory

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in automation testing using Java, JavaScript, or similar technologies.
  • At least 3 years of experience in API and integration testing.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Dependable with a solid work ethic.
  • Capability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Understanding of insurance principles.
  • Experience in application testing and/or user acceptance testing.
  • Familiarity with testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of the London and other insurance markets.
  • Experience in documentation for publication.
