Job Overview

Objective and Role

The Specialty Business Solutions platform is designed to facilitate seamless management of insurance and reinsurance operations. This innovative solution is utilized by industry professionals to enhance efficiency in assessing and pricing risk.

The Quality Assurance Tester will play a crucial role in ensuring that Specialty Business Solutions continues to deliver high-quality software to its expanding clientele. Rigorous and creative testing is essential for the platform's success. The company is committed to providing an outstanding user experience that outpaces competitors.

This position is ideal for individuals who are adaptable and eager to develop their careers within the platform team. Comprehensive training on proprietary and industry-specific systems will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

Testing Duties

  • Perform testing on the Specialty Business Solutions platform through both web and mobile applications, including:

• Structured end-to-end testing of current features that are not yet automated.

• Verification of issues identified during testing to ascertain if they are regressions or existing problems.

• Structured end-to-end testing of newly introduced features.

• Exploratory testing based on real-world business scenarios.

• Initial assessment of new features following their release from development.

• Re-evaluation of issues as fixes are implemented.

  • Document testing evidence (including replication steps, screenshots, videos, etc.) in accordance with Specialty Business Solutions testing protocols.
  • Engage with Business Analysts and the Head of Customer Experience to clarify any business scenarios or platform behavior inquiries.
  • Collaborate with fellow QA testers to determine the validity of identified issues.
  • Log issues in the designated systems, ensuring compliance with Specialty Business Solutions' issue documentation standards.
  • Conduct automation and API testing as necessary.

Test Script Development and Maintenance

  • Coordinate with Business Analysts to create new test scripts as needed for new functional enhancements.
  • Update existing test scripts to ensure comprehensive coverage of identified business scenarios.

Insurance Acumen

  • Assist fellow QA testers in understanding complex insurance concepts related to new functionalities and their operational implications.
  • Address inquiries from team members regarding specific behaviors and their potential impact on end users.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Familiarize oneself with new functional requirements to ensure a thorough understanding of business drivers.
  • Contribute to the preparation of:

• Acceptance criteria for new functional enhancements.

• Training materials and instructional videos.

• Release documentation.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Professional insurance certifications are beneficial but not mandatory.

Skills and Attributes

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in automation testing using Java, JavaScript, or similar technologies.
  • At least 3 years of experience in API and integration testing.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Dependable with a solid work ethic.
  • Capability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of insurance principles.
  • Experience in application testing and/or user acceptance testing.
  • Familiarity with testing methodologies.
  • Understanding of the London and global insurance markets.
  • Proficient in documentation for publication.
