Job Overview

Objective and Role

The Whitespace Platform, a digital solution launched in August 2019, serves brokers and underwriters in the London insurance market, facilitating the agreement of insurance contract terms, including the writing and signing of lines and the issuance of endorsements.

As a Quality Assurance Analyst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that Whitespace continues to deliver high-quality software to an expanding customer base. Rigorous and innovative testing is essential for the success of the Platform. Whitespace is committed to providing an exceptional and user-friendly customer experience at a speed unmatched by competitors.

This position is ideal for someone who is adaptable and eager to grow within the company, with opportunities for career advancement within the Platform team. Comprehensive training on proprietary and industry-specific systems will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

Testing Duties

Executing tests on the Whitespace Platform via both the Browser and iOS App, which includes:

o Conducting scripted end-to-end testing of existing features that are not yet included in automated test scripts.

o Validating issues identified during testing of existing features to ascertain if they are regressions or pre-existing problems.

o Performing scripted end-to-end testing of new features.

o Engaging in exploratory testing based on business scenarios.

o Conducting initial testing of new features following their first release from development.

o Re-testing issues as fixes become available.

Documenting testing evidence (including replication/exploratory test steps, screenshots, videos, etc.) in accordance with Whitespace testing protocols. Collaborating with Business Analysts and the Head of Customer Experience to clarify any business scenarios or Platform behavior inquiries. Consulting with fellow QA Analysts as necessary to determine the validity of issues. Logging issues in the appropriate systems and ensuring compliance with Whitespace issue documentation standards. Conducting automation and API testing as needed.

Test Script Development and Maintenance

Working with Business Analysts to create new test scripts as required for new functional enhancements. Updating and refining existing test scripts to address more complex business scenarios identified as gaps or requiring better coverage.

Insurance Acumen

Articulating complex insurance concepts to fellow QA Analysts to enhance their understanding of new functionalities and their operational rationale. Addressing inquiries from fellow QA Analysts regarding specific behaviors and their potential impact on end users.

Additional Responsibilities

Gaining familiarity with new functional requirements to ensure a comprehensive understanding of business drivers and requirements. When requested, participating in the preparation of:

o Acceptance criteria for new functional enhancements

o Training materials/videos

o Release documentation

Required Qualifications

Education / Training / Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification Professional Insurance Qualifications are not mandatory but are advantageous

Required Knowledge / Skills / Attributes

Minimum of 3 years of experience in Automation testing using Java, JavaScript, or similar technologies. At least 3 years of experience in API and integration testing. Exceptional attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Dependable, with a robust work ethic. Capability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong organizational and time management skills. Knowledge of insurance principles. Experience in application testing and/or user acceptance testing. Familiarity with testing methodologies. Understanding of the London and other insurance markets. Proficiency in documentation for publication.
