Job Overview

Objective and Role

The Specialty Business Solutions platform is designed to enhance the efficiency of insurance and reinsurance operations. This digital solution is utilized by brokers and underwriters to streamline the agreement process for insurance contracts, including the management of lines and endorsements.

The Quality Assurance Tester will play a vital role in ensuring that Specialty Business Solutions continues to deliver high-quality software to an expanding clientele. Rigorous and innovative testing is essential for the platform's success, and the company is committed to providing an outstanding user experience that outpaces competitors.

Key Responsibilities:

Testing Activities

  • Performing tests on the Specialty Business Solutions platform via both web browsers and mobile applications, which includes:

- Comprehensive end-to-end testing of existing features that are not yet automated.

- Assessing identified issues during testing to ascertain if they are regressions or pre-existing problems.

- Conducting end-to-end testing of newly developed features.

- Engaging in exploratory testing based on business scenarios.

- Initial evaluations of new features following their release from development.

- Re-evaluating issues as fixes are implemented.

  • Documenting testing evidence (including replication steps, screenshots, videos, etc.) in accordance with Specialty Business Solutions testing protocols.
  • Collaborating with Business Analysts and the Head of Customer Experience to clarify any business scenarios or platform behavior inquiries.
  • Consulting with fellow QA professionals to determine the validity of issues.
  • Logging issues in the appropriate systems while adhering to Specialty Business Solutions issue documentation standards.
  • Conducting automation and API testing as necessary.

Test Script Development and Maintenance

  • Working with Business Analysts to create new test scripts as needed for new functional enhancements.
  • Updating existing test scripts to address more complex business scenarios that require additional coverage.

Insurance Industry Knowledge

  • Providing explanations of intricate insurance concepts to fellow QA team members to facilitate understanding of new functionalities and their operational logic.
  • Addressing inquiries from colleagues regarding specific behaviors and their potential impact on end users.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Acquainting oneself with new functional requirements to ensure a comprehensive understanding of business drivers and needs.
  • Participating in the preparation of:

- Acceptance criteria for new functional enhancements

- Training materials and videos

- Release documentation

Qualifications

Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification
  • Professional insurance certifications are advantageous but not mandatory

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes

  • 3+ years of experience in automation testing utilizing Java, JavaScript, or similar technologies.
  • 3+ years of experience in API and integration testing.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Dependable with a robust work ethic.
  • Capability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Understanding of insurance principles.
  • Experience in application testing and/or user acceptance testing.
  • Familiarity with testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of the London insurance market and other relevant sectors.
  • Proficiency in documentation for publication.
