The Mission Possible Partnership (MPP) is a coalition of climate advocates and enterprises committed to advancing industrial decarbonization across the most significant sectors contributing to global emissions, including aluminum, cement, chemicals, steel, aviation, shipping, and trucking. MPP is dedicated to pioneering collaborative efforts and innovative strategies to facilitate the implementation of large-scale projects during this critical decade.

The Industrial Transition Accelerator (ITA) is a global initiative designed to promote decarbonization in high-emission sectors. By leveraging extensive networks within industry, finance, and government, it aims to unite leaders to mobilize substantial investments for the swift adoption of decarbonization technologies. Within three years, the ITA seeks to expand the portfolio of commercially viable clean industrial projects to achieve significant emission reductions by 2030, aligning with the objectives of the Paris Agreement.

Role Summary:

MPP is seeking a Technical Lead for Chemicals and Fuels to assist in executing the ITA's strategic initiatives.

The Technical Lead will utilize their comprehensive expertise and industry connections to guide the development and execution of various ITA workstreams. This multifaceted role requires the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while also spearheading individual initiatives and deliverables as necessary. The individual will serve as a key liaison for corporate partners within their area of specialization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the strategic planning and execution of projects and initiatives related to chemicals and fuels, with an emphasis on hydrogen and other low-emission alternatives.
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert for ITA in the field.
  • Oversee projects and specific deliverables associated with chemicals and fuels, ensuring adherence to established timelines.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with a diverse array of stakeholders in both public and private sectors.
  • Collaborate with other ITA project leads to address rapidly evolving priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Mid-career professional with significant experience in a high-level environment, including corporate, governmental, or top-tier consulting backgrounds.
  • Proven expertise in chemicals and fuels, particularly in hydrogen and low-emission technologies.
  • Experience in developing and utilizing analytical tools relevant to industrial decarbonization and energy solutions.
  • Self-motivated with a strong ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to craft compelling narratives from data.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain trust-based relationships with stakeholders across various sectors.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and proficiency in digital tools.
  • Adaptability and comfort in an entrepreneurial or start-up environment.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in economics, climate science, or a STEM-related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, bringing together diverse parties to collaborate on decarbonization initiatives.
  • Background in working with membership organizations and navigating the corporate, NGO, and policy landscapes.
