The Mission Possible Partnership (MPP) is a coalition of climate advocates and enterprises committed to advancing industrial decarbonization across the highest-emitting sectors, including aluminum, cement, chemicals, steel, aviation, shipping, and trucking. MPP is pioneering innovative strategies and fostering collaborative efforts to facilitate the launch of commercial-scale First Projects during this critical decade.
The Industrial Transition Accelerator (ITA) is a global initiative designed to drive decarbonization in heavy-emitting sectors. By leveraging extensive networks across industries, financial entities, and governmental bodies, it unites global leaders to mobilize substantial investments for the swift implementation of decarbonization solutions. Within three years, the ITA aims to significantly expand the portfolio of commercial-scale, clean industrial projects to achieve emission reductions by 2030, aligning with the Paris Agreement goals for high-emission industries and transportation.
Launched at a major climate summit, the ITA collaborates with international institutions, corporate and financial leaders, and industry-specific groups to expedite the decarbonization of challenging sectors. The ITA's Secretariat operates under MPP.
Role Overview:
MPP offers an exciting opportunity for a Senior Specialist in Chemicals and Fuels to contribute to the execution of the ITA work program.
The Specialist will utilize their comprehensive expertise, familiarity with project life-cycles, and industry connections to aid in the strategic formulation and execution of various ITA initiatives. This role is dynamic, requiring the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while also leading and delivering specific assignments as necessary. The Specialist will serve as a key external liaison for corporate stakeholders within their area of expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the strategic formulation and execution of projects and initiatives related to chemicals and fuels, with a focus on hydrogen and other low-emission alternatives.
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for ITA.
- Lead projects and specific deliverables in the chemicals and fuels sector, ensuring adherence to established timelines.
- Establish and maintain relationships with a diverse range of public and private sector stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other ITA project leads to address rapidly evolving priorities.
Qualifications:
- Mid-career professional with substantial experience in a high-level environment, including corporate settings with exposure to senior executives, government roles, or top-tier consulting firms.
- Proven expertise in chemicals and fuels, particularly in hydrogen and low-emission alternatives, along with a solid understanding of decarbonization technologies.
- Experience in developing and utilizing analytical tools related to industrial and heavy transport decarbonization, as well as cross-cutting energy solutions.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong inclination to work independently in a fast-paced setting.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to craft compelling narratives from quantitative and qualitative data.
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and relationship management capabilities.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain trust-based relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including senior executives.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, along with proficiency in digital tools.
- Adaptability and comfort in an entrepreneurial or start-up environment.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in economics, climate-related fields, or STEM disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, particularly in uniting diverse groups from the private sector, policy, and finance to develop energy and industry decarbonization solutions.
- Familiarity with membership organizations and experience within corporate, NGO, and policy contexts.
