About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety, Health, and Environmental Manager to join our team at Koura. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety, health, and environmental performance across our UK operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Develop SHEQ&S Policies and Procedures

Develop and implement effective safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Manage Regulatory Interactions

Represent Koura in interactions with regulatory bodies, such as the HSE, EA, and BSI, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and to maintain a positive reputation.

Ensure Compliance with Regulatory Licenses and Permits

Manage and maintain all regulatory licenses and permits, including COMAH, EPR, F-gas, and climate change levy, to ensure that our sites can continue to operate legally.

Develop and Implement Process Safety Management and Behavioural Safety Improvement Processes

Develop and implement process safety management and behavioural safety improvement processes to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

Manage Technical Training and Competence Management System

Develop and manage a technical training and competence management system to ensure that technical and operational staff are trained and competent to carry out their roles.

Requirements
  • Education and Qualifications

Minimum: Graduate in a chemical or scientific discipline. Professional safety and health qualification, such as a NEBOSH diploma, is essential.

Experience and Skills

Established technical background with 10 years' experience in a production or operations environment and a minimum of 3 years in a regulatory position for an upper-tier COMAH site (or equivalent). Proven experience with management systems, including design, implementation, and auditing (ISO 9001/14001/18001 or equivalent).

Leadership and Management Skills

Proven leadership and management skills, with experience of directly managing other SHEQ&S professionals. Influencing and rational persuasion skills, with a high safety standards result-oriented concern for impact and analytical skills.
