Position Overview

We are excited to announce an opportunity for an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist (Band 7) specializing in Aseptic Services to join our dedicated team.

This position is pivotal in ensuring the quality assurance of unlicensed aseptic products and providing essential support for specialized chemotherapy services.

The Aseptic Services operate under the relevant exemptions of the Medicine Act and adhere to the standards set forth in the Quality Assurance of Aseptic Preparation services (QAAPs).

This role will also involve contributing to the ongoing development of our services, including potential expansions towards a Specials Manufacturing Licence.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Collaborate with the Lead Oncology Pharmacist, Lead Aseptic Pharmacist, and Lead Clinical Trials Pharmacist on all facets of aseptic dispensing and preparation of parenteral medications. Partner with the Principal Pharmacist for Technical Services to uphold and enhance the pharmaceutical quality system. Work alongside the aseptic team to ensure the seamless operation of the aseptic units. Maintain a high-quality, cost-effective, and patient-centered pharmacy service. Assist in ensuring clinical trials are executed in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and that aseptic products meet Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. Support the Principal Pharmacist in managing the document control system and reviewing relevant procedures. Evaluate the stability of both new and existing products, investigate discrepancies, and contribute to corrective actions. Conduct internal audits and quarterly inspections, identifying gaps and collaborating on action plans. Aid in the Planned Preventative Maintenance and Validations program for the Technical Services Unit. Provide leadership and mentorship to staff within the haemato-oncology/aseptic service. Deliver a high standard of clinical pharmacy service under the guidance of the Lead Oncology Pharmacist. Identify risk management issues and assist in developing safe practice systems. Monitor and enhance medicines optimization in alignment with departmental strategies.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

MPharm Degree or equivalent. Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

Desirable

Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance. Postgraduate clinical diploma. Non-Medical Prescribing qualification.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

Comprehensive understanding of NHS and Pharmaceutical Policy. In-depth knowledge of GCP, GMP, and GDP. Familiarity with clean room designs and regulations. Strong communication skills for conveying complex information to various stakeholders.
