Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join our Homecare Pharmacy team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. As a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist - Homecare Service Development, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our homecare and clinical pharmacy service.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support the development of our Homecare Pharmacy Service, providing expert advice to patients and healthcare professionals on the use of homecare services.
  • Contribute to the implementation of biosimilar medicines, ensuring the best use of NHS resources and maintaining high standards of governance.
  • Work closely with specialist nurses to ensure the homecare service is managed in line with quality standards and NICE Technology Appraisals.
  • Coordinate with external homecare teams to implement new homecare services, review service level agreements, and negotiate agreements with local hospitals and other providers.
  • Support the investigation of incidents and complaints in Pharmacy and link these to Risk Management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Royal Pharmaceutical Society standards for Homecare and contribute to the annual RPS Homecare audit.

Person Specification

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A MPharm degree in pharmacy and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • A postgraduate Clinical Diploma and/or Independent Prescribing Qualification.
  • Experience of advanced practice in one or more relevant areas, including leadership of a pharmacy service and supervisory management of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work under pressure and provide excellent patient care.
