Job Description

Vallum Associates is seeking a highly skilled Research Analyst to contribute to the analysis of the shipping and oil markets. As a member of our Research team, you will work closely with senior management to extract insights from large datasets and present findings through visual analytic tools, presentations, and reports.

The Role:

As a Research Analyst, you will be responsible for managing data systems, including fleet and trade data, to extract valuable insights that will inform business decisions. You will work with multiple divisions within the company, including Chartering, Projects, Corporate Finance, and Vessel Performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and develop databases and models covering the oil and shipping markets

• Extract information and answer questions from large datasets, such as trade movements and fleet utilization

• Provide regular reports on changes in the oil and shipping markets

• Create visual analytic dashboards for easy analysis of data by senior management

• Develop material for internal presentations, external investors, and partners

Requirements:

• 2.1 minimum analytical or maritime/oil & energy related degree

• 1-year minimum experience in an analytical environment, preferably in the shipping or oil industry

• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills

• Analytical software/database experience desirable

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
