Role: Associate, Data Science Analyst – Global Oil Markets

We are seeking a talented and motivated Data Scientist to join our growing team in the Global Oil Markets division. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in data science and machine learning to develop cutting-edge solutions that drive business value.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a domain expert for global oil market data science initiatives, collaborating closely with both the Data Science and Commercial teams.
  • Develop time series forecasting models and build machine learning algorithms to predict future trends in the global oil markets, utilizing historical data.
  • Design and implement end-to-end data science solutions for users, encompassing data ingestion, processing, analysis, and model deployment using advanced analytics and machine learning techniques.
  • Apply a deep understanding of mathematical and statistical principles underpinning machine learning to enhance existing applications and conceive innovative new ones.
  • Create novel data pipelines and identify new data sources to enrich our analytical capabilities.
  • Communicate your findings and insights to stakeholders through comprehensive reports, presentations, and visualizations.
  • Mentor and guide junior data scientists, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing team environment.
  • Work closely with our Commercial investing teams globally to support their data needs and provide actionable insights.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience in Data Science, with a focus on Shipping, Oil & Petroleum asset classes, including crude oil and refined products.
  • Proven experience with time series forecasting and machine learning techniques, specifically within the shipping and global oil markets.
  • Strong programming skills – Python & SQL.
  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
