Job Description

Vallum Associates is seeking a highly skilled Research Analyst to join our team in London. As a Research Analyst, you will play a crucial role in contributing insights and analysis of the shipping and oil markets.

The Role:

We are looking for a talented individual to manage data systems, including fleet and trade data, to extract valuable insights that will be presented to senior management via visual analytic tools, presentations, and reports.

You will be part of a dynamic team that works closely with multiple divisions within the company, including Chartering, Projects, Corporate Finance, and Vessel Performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop databases and models covering the oil and shipping markets
  • Extract information and answer questions from large datasets, such as trade movements and fleet utilization from AIS data
  • Provide regular reports on changes in the oil and shipping markets
  • Create visual analytic dashboards for easy analysis of data by superiors
  • Develop material for internal presentations, external investors, and partners

Requirements:

  • 2.1 minimum analytical (STEM, Economics, Business, etc.) or maritime/oil & energy related degree
  • 1-year minimum experience in an analytical environment, ideally shipping or the oil industry
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Analytical software/database experience desirable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Right to Work in the UK
