Shrewsbury, Shropshire, United Kingdom Shropshire Homes Full time

Shropshire Homes

Established in 1981, Shropshire Homes has successfully developed approximately 3,000 residences and has seen significant growth, achieving a turnover of £50 million while constructing around 200 homes annually. Based near Shrewsbury, the company operates in Shropshire and surrounding areas, focusing on the creation of high-quality homes in desirable locations. Shropshire Homes engages in a diverse range of projects, from exclusive developments of 4 and 5-bedroom detached houses to upscale apartments and extensive projects featuring various house types.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will support our Services and Agreements Manager in the acquisition of new mains services schemes and the coordination of service diversions. This includes securing road and sewer adoption agreements and ensuring the adoption of this infrastructure by local highway and drainage authorities. The role also involves procuring traffic management solutions to facilitate new developments and assisting with the delivery of new service connections, as well as the effective management of public open space areas for future maintenance by local authorities or management companies.

Core Responsibilities

This is a permanent position, and while prior experience is beneficial, comprehensive training will be provided. Key responsibilities include:

  • Gathering existing services data and aiding in the creation of drawings to evaluate the impact of existing services on new developments.
  • Obtaining budget estimates for new services and the diversion of existing services to assist in land acquisition budgeting.
  • Securing detailed quotations for new mains services and diversions, including designs for site budget preparation.
  • Creating drawings to facilitate the installation of ducting for new highway construction.
  • Assisting project technicians in obtaining highway and drainage approvals and securing formal legal agreements from authorities for new site infrastructure delivery.
  • Procuring new street lighting schemes and cost estimates for site budget preparation.
  • Conducting site inspections with highway and drainage authorities to ensure compliance for adoption.
  • Participating in meetings with statutory service providers prior to infrastructure commencement to ensure timely mains service delivery.
  • Inspecting public open spaces to verify adherence to approved planting schemes before handover to local authorities or management companies.
  • Performing general administrative tasks in support of the role and the Technical Department as needed.

Additional duties may be assigned as reasonably required by the organization.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Highly motivated with a strong desire to succeed.
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to delivering excellent service.
  • Well-organized and capable of working independently; experience in a team-oriented service role is advantageous.
  • Some familiarity with project management is helpful, though not essential as full training will be provided.
  • Effective communicator, approachable, and polite, able to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • A background in construction is beneficial but not required, as comprehensive training will be offered.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • A construction-related qualification or progress towards one is advantageous but not mandatory, as full training will be provided.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is useful but not essential, as training will be available.

Candidate Profile:

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a growing local housing developer. We seek an individual who can integrate into our Technical team and uphold Shropshire Homes' standards in producing and managing technical information while liaising with external parties, local authorities, drainage authorities, highway authorities, and both internal and external customers.

The ideal candidate will be communicative and transparent in their approach, and we encourage innovative ideas and constructive challenges.

In return, we offer comprehensive training where needed, opportunities to enhance existing skills, a competitive compensation package, and, most importantly, the chance to contribute to building future communities.
