About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Level 2 Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our team at an inclusive SEN/SEMH school in Preston. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of primary-aged children with diverse learning needs, including ASC and MLD.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to students with diverse needs, assisting them in their academic and personal growth.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and other staff members to implement lesson plans and create a positive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of behavior management strategies to ensure a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere.
  • Support students' social, emotional, and mental well-being through positive interactions and guidance.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • NVQ Level 2 or above qualification – appropriate for the role advertised or equivalent
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths
  • Recent experience of working with children in KS1 or KS2
  • Knowledge of classroom roles and responsibilities
  • Recent experience of supporting and assisting pupils with their learning

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • First Aid Certificate
  • Team Teach Certificate
  • Experience of administrative tasks
  • Experience of working with children with SEND
  • Experience of supporting children with challenging behaviour
