At Ground Control, we are looking for a committed and knowledgeable Sustainability and Environmental Operations Lead to become part of our team. This position is vital in advancing our ecological initiatives across the country, ensuring adherence to regulations among all our operational teams and divisions, while promoting a culture of sustainability within our organization and among our clients.

This is a hybrid role that will require regular travel to various operational sites nationwide

Key Responsibilities:

Formulate and execute environmental policies and practices throughout all company functions. Provide training and guidance to personnel on environmental matters and best practices, including toolbox discussions with field teams across the country. Ensure adherence to environmental laws and regulations. Conduct assessments and audits regarding environmental impacts. Develop and oversee sustainability initiatives aimed at minimizing waste, emissions, and energy usage. Prepare and deliver reports on environmental performance to senior leadership. Collaborate with external partners, including regulatory agencies, community organizations, and industry collaborators. Stay informed about emerging environmental trends, technologies, and legislation.

The Ideal Candidate:

This position is well-suited for an experienced Environmental Advisor or Manager who has operated in high-risk sectors such as Rail or Utilities, although candidates with a background in Construction will also be considered.

Regardless of your background, you will need substantial experience in environmental management, ideally supported by a degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline, though this is not mandatory.

Additionally, you will require:

Comprehensive knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices. Proven experience in conducting environmental assessments and audits. Excellent project management capabilities with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. A proactive approach to engage at a field level with our teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities across various levels of seniority. Willingness to travel across the UK & Ireland as necessary.
