About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to join our team at Amtico. As a key member of our HSE team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our colleagues with health, safety, and environmental matters across our manufacturing and distribution sites.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Liaise with Regulatory Bodies: Develop and maintain effective relationships with regulatory bodies, including the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), Environment Agency, and West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS), to ensure compliance with relevant statutory provisions.
  2. Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems: Ensure that our health, safety, and environmental management systems meet business needs and are aligned with industry best practices, including ISO 14001 and 45001 accreditations.
  3. Reporting and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of injuries, incidents, and near misses, and report them to relevant authorities as required.
  4. Auditing and Compliance: Coordinate internal and external audits to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  5. Training and Development: Provide health, safety, and environmental induction training to new starters, and specify and source specialist training as required.
  6. Procedure Development and Review: Lead the review and revision of health, safety, and environmental procedures and documentation to ensure they are suitable, sufficient, and up-to-date.
  7. Advice and Support: Offer health, safety, and environmental advice and support to all departments within the business, and provide guidance on risk management and mitigation strategies.
  8. Reporting and Analysis: Produce monthly statistics for the Operations Board report, and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  9. Insurance and Risk Management: Liaise with insurers on all risks and plant protection issues, and complete and analyze evidence, prepare statements, and collate documents as required.
  10. Wellbeing and Sustainability: Have regular involvement with the wellbeing committee to set clear and achievable targets that focus on the health and wellbeing of staff, and lead by example in developing environmental initiatives and best practices.
  11. Environmental and Safety Behaviours: Work with the workforce to develop exemplary environmental and safety behaviours, and support the Environmental and Safety Advisor in ensuring the environmental management system meets legal and business needs.
  12. Sustainability and Net Zero: Support the Environmental and Safety Advisor on all areas of sustainability, and help the company work towards Net zero via internal pillar groups.
  13. Stock Management and Waste Disposal: Manage stock levels for health and safety products and consumables, and ensure the safe disposal of waste, including hazardous substances.
  14. Asbestos and Noise Reports: Follow up on Asbestos DESEAR Dust and noise reports, and ensure close out of any actions.
  15. Departmental Support: Support all departmental managers to ensure all company safety and environmental objectives are met.
  16. Communication and Collaboration: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues in the Health & Safety Department, and manage effective communication between the Health, Safety, and Environmental Department and key stakeholders.

Desirable Qualifications
  • IEMA Certification: Hold a certification in Environmental Management, such as IEMA.
