Job Description:

We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to join our HSE team. This role is perfect for an individual who excels in influencing and negotiation skills, and is passionate about delivering excellent results.

Job Purpose:

To support the HSE Manager and business to minimize the company's exposure to health, safety and environmental risk through the provision of expert advice, guidance, systems, frameworks and monitoring of requirements under the relevant statutory provisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with enforcing authorities to meet legal obligations
  • Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental management systems meet business needs for Amtico to sustain both the ISO 14001 and 45001 accreditations
  • Report injuries under RIDDOR (occupational disease & dangerous occurrences) to conform to statutory requirements
  • Coordinate Health & Safety and Environmental Internal, External Audits to ensure they are completed within their timeframe and actions are closed out in a timely manner
  • Carry out Health & Safety induction training of all new starters
  • Specify and source specialist health and safety training
  • Lead in the review and revision of all relevant procedures and documentation
  • Support all departments within the business by offering health, safety and environmental advice and support
  • Produce monthly statistics for Operations Board report
  • Liaise with insurers on all risks/plant protection issues and on all matters relating to employers liability claims
  • Utilize IOSH trained staff to help identify hazards within the workplace and to help communicate information across the business
  • Have regular involvement with the wellbeing committee to set clear and achievable targets that focus on the health and general wellbeing of the staff
  • Lead by example, play a part in developing environmental initiatives incorporating best practice
  • Support the Environmental and Safety Advisor in ensuring the Environmental management system meets legal and business needs
  • Manage stock levels for all health and safety products and consumables
  • Manage and organize the safe disposal of waste including hazardous substances
  • Follow up on Asbestos DESEAR Dust and noise reports ensuring close out of any actions
  • Support all Departmental managers to make sure all company safety and environmental objectives are met
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues in the Health & Safety Department
  • Manage effective communication between the Health, Safety and Environmental Department and key people within the business, stakeholders, customers and partners

Requirements:

  • Understands business strategy, products and processes, and has an appreciation of the wider business environment
  • Maximises the success of business initiatives and solutions by personal input as well as respecting the skills and expertise of others
  • Solves short-term operational problems effectively and identifies when longer terms solutions are required
  • Is passionate about the business and strives to deliver excellent results
  • Organises processes, resources and work flow to maximise efficient and productive results

Relevant Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar Health and Safety environment

Desirable Qualification:

  • IEMA certified
