Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to join our client's senior management team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the company's health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures are implemented and maintained across all sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Health, Safety and Environmental Leadership
    • Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments and implement preventative measures to minimize hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
    • Manage and coordinate health, safety, and environmental audits, including internal and external audits.
  • Team Management
    • Develop and lead a high-performing health, safety, and environmental team to ensure effective implementation of health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
    • Identify and develop training needs for the team and ensure all personnel are adequately trained in health, safety, and environmental matters.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
    • Develop and maintain effective communication channels with all stakeholders, including employees, management, and external bodies.
    • Represent the company at external meetings and events, promoting the company's health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance and implement changes to achieve best practice.
    • Monitor and report on health, safety, and environmental performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong background in health, safety, and environmental management, preferably in a manufacturing or logistics environment.
  • NEBOSH/IOSH Managing Safety certification or equivalent.
  • Fully conversant with ISO 45001 and 14001 standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to positively challenge behaviors.
  • A passion for driving health, safety, and environmental improvements and embedding best practice.
