We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor to join our team at Amtico. As a key member of our HSE team, you will play a vital role in supporting our colleagues and ensuring the company's exposure to health, safety, and environmental risk is minimized.
Key Responsibilities- Liaise with regulatory bodies, including the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), Environment Agency, and West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS), to ensure compliance with relevant statutory provisions.
- Develop and maintain effective Health, Safety, and Environmental management systems, ensuring they meet business needs and support the company's sustainability goals.
- Report incidents and near-misses in accordance with RIDDOR regulations, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring they are completed on time and actions are closed out efficiently.
- Provide health and safety induction training to new starters, ensuring they understand company policies and procedures.
- Source and deliver specialist health and safety training, such as NEBOSH certificates and IPAF training, as required.
- Review and revise relevant procedures and documentation to ensure they are up-to-date and suitable for the business.
- Offer health, safety, and environmental advice and support to all departments, ensuring a culture of safety and sustainability is promoted throughout the organization.
- Produce regular statistics and reports for the Operations Board, highlighting key health and safety metrics.
- Liaise with insurers to manage risks, plant protection issues, and employers' liability claims, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
- Utilize IOSH-trained staff to identify hazards and communicate safety information across the business.
- Collaborate with the wellbeing committee to set clear and achievable targets, focusing on staff health and wellbeing.
- Lead by example, promoting environmental initiatives and best practices, and work with the workforce to develop exemplary environmental and safety behaviors.
- Support the Environmental and Safety Advisor in ensuring the Environmental management system meets legal and business needs, and liaise with energy consultants to ensure Amtico remains on target for its Climate Change Agreement (CCA).
- Support the Environmental and Safety Advisor on sustainability initiatives, helping the company work towards Net zero through its internal pillar groups.
- Manage stock levels for health and safety products and consumables, ensuring timely and consistent replenishment.
- Ensure the safe disposal of waste, including hazardous substances, and maintain relevant paperwork to ensure compliance with legal obligations.
- Follow up on Asbestos DESEAR Dust and noise reports, ensuring close-out of any actions.
- Support Departmental managers at Coventry and Solihull sites to ensure company safety and environmental objectives are met.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues in the Health & Safety Department, ensuring a unified and collaborative team that provides excellent customer service.
- Manage effective communication between the Health, Safety, and Environmental Department and key stakeholders, customers, and partners.
- Understand business strategy, products, and processes, and have an appreciation of the wider business environment, taking them into account in carrying out the job role.
- Maximize the success of business initiatives and solutions by personal input, respecting the skills and expertise of others, and encouraging relevant contributions.
- Solve short-term operational problems effectively and identify when longer-term solutions are required.
- Be passionate about the business and strive to deliver excellent results.
