About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to join our team at Amtico. As a key member of our HSE team, you will play a vital role in supporting our colleagues and ensuring the company's exposure to health, safety and environmental risk is minimized.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Liaise with Regulatory Bodies

You will be responsible for liaising with regulatory bodies, including the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), Environment Agency, and West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS), to ensure compliance with relevant statutory provisions.

Develop and Maintain HSE Management Systems

You will ensure that our Health, Safety and Environmental management systems meet business needs and are aligned with industry standards, including ISO 14001 and 45001 accreditations.

Reporting and Record-Keeping

You will be responsible for reporting injuries under RIDDOR (occupational disease & dangerous occurrences) and maintaining accurate records to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Audit and Compliance

You will coordinate Health & Safety and Environmental internal and external audits to ensure they are completed within timeframe and actions are closed out in a timely manner.

Training and Development

You will carry out Health & Safety induction training of all new starters and specify and source specialist health and safety training as required.

Procedure Development and Review

You will lead in the review and revision of all relevant procedures and documentation to ensure information is suitable and sufficient and up to date.

Business Support

You will support all departments within the business by offering health, safety and environmental advice and support to all areas of the business, where required.

Reporting and Analysis

You will produce monthly statistics for Operations Board report and liaise with insurers on all risks/plant protection issues and on all matters relating to employers liability claims.

Wellbeing and Sustainability

You will have regular involvement with the wellbeing committee to set clear and achievable targets that focus on the health and general wellbeing of the staff and lead by example, play a part in developing environmental initiatives incorporating best practice.

Environmental and Safety Management

You will support the Environmental and Safety Advisor in ensuring the Environmental management system meets legal and business needs and liaise with our energy consultants (JRP) to ensure Amtico remains on target for our Climate Change Agreement (CCA).

Sustainability and Net Zero

You will support the Environmental and Safety Advisor on all areas of sustainability and help the company to work towards Net zero via their 4 internal pillar groups.

Inventory Management and Waste Disposal

You will manage stock levels for all health and safety products and consumables to ensure it is replenished in a timely and consistent manner and manage and organise the safe disposal of waste including hazardous substances.

Asbestos and Noise Reports

You will follow up on Asbestos DESEAR Dust and noise reports ensuring close out of any actions.

Departmental Support

You will support all Departmental managers at both the Coventry sites and Solihull site to make sure all company safety and environmental objectives are met.

Communication and Collaboration

You will establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues in the Health & Safety Department to ensure that the team is unified, works collaboratively, and provides excellent customer service in a timely, effective and consistent manner.

Requirements
  • You will have a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar Health and Safety environment.
  • You will have a strong understanding of business strategy, products and processes, and an appreciation of the wider business environment.
  • You will be able to maximize the success of business initiatives and solutions by personal input as well as respecting the skills and expertise of others.
  • You will be able to solve short-term operational problems effectively and identify when longer-term solutions are required.
  • You will be passionate about the business and strive to deliver excellent results.
  • You will be able to organize processes, resources and work flow to maximize efficient and productive results.
