Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Surgical Appliances Officer to contribute to the delivery of high-quality orthotics services at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support for the Orthotics Service, ensuring all procedures are carried out in accordance with trust policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all patient records are maintained and available on request, adhering to data protection and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Collect prescription charges from patients, ensuring all issues and payments are correctly documented.
  • Order and receive orthotics and surgical appliance products, monitoring stock levels and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Fit a limited range of orthotic products, including wrist splints and tennis elbow straps, under the guidance of senior surgical appliances officers.
  • Work across both University Hospital Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital sites, providing support to the lead surgical appliances officers and absence cover.

Person Specification
  • Education to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in a hospital environment, preferably in an orthotics service.
  • Ability to use electronic resources, including patient administration systems.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work to deadlines.
