About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Essex County Council as a Mental Health and Justice Practice Supervisor, working within our dedicated team to provide specialist support and guidance to our Mental Health and Justice Workers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support a small team of Mental Health and Justice Workers, ensuring they have the necessary resources and guidance to deliver high-quality services.
  • Provide specialist advice and consultation to Mental Health and Justice Workers, contributing to the development of best practice standards.
  • Develop and deliver early interventions for children and young people at risk of poor emotional wellbeing and mental ill health, working closely with families and other agencies to prevent escalation.
  • Work collaboratively with children's mental health services, Youth Justice Service, children's social care, and other partners to develop and implement effective interventions and protocols.
  • Contribute to identifying unmet need and leading whole-system change to improve outcomes for children and young people.
  • Develop and deliver bespoke training and consultancy programs to build capacity within educational settings, YJTs, children's social care, and pupil referral units.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including children's mental health services, Youth Justice Service, children's social care, and other partners.
  • Develop and implement plans to improve outcomes for children and young people, working closely with families and other agencies.

About You

  • You will possess an accredited degree or diploma level, professional qualification in social work, with substantial continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant professional areas.
  • You will have evidence of direct engagement with young people, with successful delivery of 1-1, direct and indirect interventions.
  • You will have proven ability to work within evidence-informed frameworks, with knowledge and understanding of criminogenic factors causing young people to offend.
  • You will have substantial experience of building strong partnerships, which are collaborative and influential in their nature.
  • You will have deep knowledge and understanding of vulnerability and safeguarding protocols.
  • You will have experience of developing and delivering bespoke training and consultancy.
  • You will be a catalyst for change, early in young people's lives.
