Overview of a Housing Assistance Specialist:


Pertemps is pleased to present an opportunity within Harrow Council for a proactive and dedicated Housing Assistance Specialist to become part of a growing team.

The position of Housing Assistance Specialist offers a competitive remuneration of £20.55 PAYE and £26.22 Umbrella PAYE per hour.


Main Responsibilities of a Housing Assistance Specialist:

Collaborate with Access Harrow, Revenues, CAFT, Finance, Housing, and External Partners, including the Department for Work and Pensions, to ensure that delivery and performance objectives are achieved.

You will liaise with the Housing Benefit officer and the primary contact for Harrow Council's housing department, addressing their inquiries and escalations regarding Housing Benefit claims for tenants.

Assess initial eligibility and contributions for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support, including complex calculations related to self-employment, students, and other categories.

Manage any revisions to eligibility and contributions for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support, ensuring accuracy in complex cases.


About You:

The ideal Housing Assistance Specialist will possess:

  • The ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment with shifting and competing priorities.
  • A solid understanding of current and future technological advancements and their potential applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of Housing and Council Tax Benefits legislation.
  • Extensive recent experience in evaluating all types of Housing Benefit claims.
  • Significant experience in assessing and managing claims related to Temporary and Supported accommodation.
