Job Description

We're seeking a highly skilled Financial Control Specialist to join our multifaceted Finance team. As a vital contributor, you'll play a key role in managing our financial control framework, addressing potential control issues, and ensuring compliance with professional standards and governance principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform the Finance Risk Champion role, ensuring the effective management of financial risks.
  • Support the finance control framework, facilitating consistent high standards of financial good practice and enabling the early identification and effective management of potential issues/risks.
  • Test business controls and prepare remediation action plans for any failed controls.
  • Liaise with the business to document processes and prepare process flow charts.
  • Track and supervise the outcomes of internal and/or external audits and reviews.
  • Prepare Finance control MI reports regularly or on an ad hoc basis to meet business needs.
  • Engage with finance and business leaders to advocate for and communicate good financial control practices, ensuring appropriate actions are taken when vital.
  • Support the Regulatory Reporting and Financial Reporting teams when requested.

Requirements

  • A recent qualification in a professional accounting qualification (e.g., CIMA, ACCA).
  • An understanding of controls and their application in an insurance environment.
  • High standards in both written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate digital literacy.
  • Good problem-solving abilities.

Desirable Skills

  • SOX, internal, or external audit experience.
  • Knowledge of general insurance accounting.
  • Sophisticated digital literacy, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
