Chelmsford, Essex, United Kingdom Teledyne UK Limited Full time

Position Overview

Teledyne UK Limited stands at the forefront of specialized components and subsystems, delivering innovative solutions across various sectors including medical, scientific, aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. With a workforce exceeding 1600 professionals globally, we are committed to excellence and innovation.

We are in search of a Programme Manager to enhance our RF Power division. Candidates must possess eligibility for Security Clearance.

This role may involve engagement with diverse projects related to cancer treatment technologies, radar systems, satellite communication amplifiers, industrial heating solutions, cargo screening technologies, and digital television transmission systems.

Joining our team will provide you with the chance to collaborate with highly skilled engineers, technicians, and scientists.

Key Responsibilities:

We seek a Programme Manager who demonstrates enthusiasm and dedication in overseeing strategic R&D and client-funded initiatives.

You will be expected to quickly integrate into ongoing projects, ensuring product delivery to clients and achieving revenue targets through effective management and leadership of a multidisciplinary team of over 10 engineers and technical personnel. This role is predominantly product-focused and will also encompass the management of additional projects and some bidding activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading cross-functional teams of engineers and manufacturing personnel to ensure timely project delivery within budget and quality standards. Applying effective project management methodologies consistently and ensuring compliance with established project management processes. Setting a positive example for your team, demonstrating how to achieve targets while mentoring junior staff. Building strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure clear communication and execution of goals and objectives. Creating detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project and disseminating information through the MS Project Server system. Establishing appropriate Phase Gate Reviews for projects and ensuring they are conducted promptly. Clearly defining, documenting, and managing project scope in collaboration with customers, whether internal or external. Identifying project risks, issues, and dependencies, and seeking resolutions prior to escalation. Collaborating with the Finance Team to establish and monitor project budgets, ensuring the availability and analysis of relevant data such as schedule-derived ETCs and risk cost exposure. Preparing project dashboards and presenting status updates to the Senior Leadership Team on a monthly basis. Working alongside Business Development, Engineering, and Programme Directors to formulate technical and commercial solutions that meet customer requirements.

Required Qualifications:

To excel in this position, candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

Extensive experience managing engineering projects throughout various lifecycle stages, particularly focusing on production. Proven ability to motivate teams to meet critical deadlines and deliver successful projects. Strong capability to manage client expectations and mitigate scope creep. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly across all organizational levels. Strong problem-solving skills. Sound judgment, with the ability to discern when to take ownership of issues and when to escalate them. Proficiency in project management and resource tools such as MS Project and MS Project Server or similar enterprise project management software. Familiarity with SAP is advantageous. Knowledge and certification in APM Body of Knowledge, PRINCE2, PMP methodologies, or similar frameworks.

Due to the sensitive nature of certain projects, candidates must be eligible for, or already possess, security clearance and must be UK Nationals.

At Teledyne, we uphold the highest ethical standards in our business practices. We expect all employees to adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines, as our reputation for integrity and innovation is paramount.
