Job Overview:

JAB Recruitment is currently seeking a highly skilled Project Director to lead a complex infrastructure programme for a prominent Utilities Client based in the UK.

As a Project Director, you will be part of the Gas Operations leadership team responsible for delivering a high-value infrastructure programme for Cadent Gas Chelmsford project.

Reporting directly to the Operations Delivery Manager/Operations Director, the Project Director and their team will ensure the timely delivery, quality, HSE, and compliance with the client's established specifications and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the integrated project teams to safely deliver the portfolio of projects in line with contracts and frameworks.
  • Effectively manage resources to ensure the most cost-effective model is deployed.
  • Manage costs throughout the life cycle of each project.
  • Support future tenders to ensure longevity of contracts.
  • Provide effective and visible leadership for the programme of works.
  • Monitor and review commercial expectations and quality standards.
  • Act as the Health and Safety champion for the programme of works.
  • Sustainably reduce delivery costs to bring the required efficiencies on the programme.
  • Ensure alignment with the client's vision through delivery of the contract. Build and maintain relationships with the client and gas construction senior team.
  • Deliver a successful performance management model.
  • Build a skilled and sustainable team to support programme delivery.
  • Contribute to the delivery vehicle strategy to ensure sustainable performance and secure contract extension.
  • Communicate effectively with the wider programme team.
  • Ensure a suitable supply chain is in place to support programme delivery.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience at project management level in a similar environment is essential.
  • You will be able to demonstrate your experience of delivering large portfolios of projects, ideally to an annual value of up to £10M.
  • Knowledge of the Gas, construction, or utilities industry is essential.
  • Outstanding leadership qualities are required.
  • A strong health and safety focus is necessary.
  • A knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering would be useful, though not essential.
