Job Overview

We are seeking experienced Consultants in Emergency Medicine to join our dedicated team within the Emergency Departments at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.

Our organization offers a flexible job plan of either 10 or 12 Programmed Activities (PA), which includes a shift rota that accommodates both weekdays and weekends. We are committed to supporting individual preferences, including options for fixed weekdays off or part-time roles.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will play a pivotal role in the development of our medical workforce, collaborating with academic institutions to enhance training opportunities. We encourage applications from those interested in pursuing joint academic and clinical roles. Our consultants will receive support for professional development, including opportunities for postgraduate qualifications such as an MBA or MSc, as well as involvement in academic research.

Our Emergency Medicine team is bolstered by a robust workforce, including 25 Middle Grade/Speciality Doctors, higher trainees, and Advanced Clinical Practitioners. We are dedicated to fostering the growth of our junior staff through special interest posts and a CESR completion pathway.

Essential Qualifications

- Full GMC Registration

- FRCEM or equivalent

- CCT/CESR Specialist Registration or expected within 6 months of interview

- Minimum English Level 2 (GCSE grade C or equivalent), ILETS, or UK Medical School graduate

Desirable Qualifications

- Distinctions, scholarships, or other academic achievements

- Additional degrees such as BSc, MSc, or MD

- Dual accreditation in ITU/PHEM/PEM

- Instructor status in advanced life support courses

- Leadership and Teaching qualifications

Experience Requirements

- Extensive experience in all facets of Emergency Medicine

Clinical Governance Responsibilities

- Participation in audits, complaints management, and serious incident investigations

- Engagement in morbidity and mortality meetings and structured judgment reviews
