Position Overview

The successful candidate will join our dedicated team, ensuring that patients receive exceptional care in alignment with the National Service Framework for Frailty and Geriatric Medicine, as well as relevant NICE guidelines.

We are looking for a leader in Frailty to enhance our emergency department and oversee our Frailty Assessment unit in collaboration with fellow consultants. This role will transition services from age-based criteria to a focus on acute frailty. Additionally, there is a commitment to further develop an Acute Physician-led Acute Medical Unit (AMU) model, supported by specialty in-reach rotas. Plans are underway to modify HCOOP referrals to prioritize frailty rather than age.

Key Responsibilities

We seek dynamic and driven Elderly Care Consultants to join our supportive and enthusiastic team. The selected candidates will collaborate with other established Consultants to deliver the highest quality of care for older patients across our service areas.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Experience in Frailty and Emergency Department Pathways.
  • Professional qualifications.
  • Full GMC Registration.

Desirable:

  • Higher Degree (MD/PhD or equivalent) in Geriatric Medicine.

Clinical Governance

  • Experience in Audit.
