The Role: Early Careers Development Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Early Careers Development Manager to lead our trainee development program. You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our legal professionals by overseeing their training, career progression, and overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all trainees throughout their training contract, collaborating with the Training Principal on seat allocation, reviews, qualifications, and career guidance.
  • Manage our Paralegal Academy program, guiding participants through their qualification pathway within our Casualty business unit.
  • Develop and implement an apprentice and early careers strategy in partnership with the business and HR team, leveraging data-driven insights to inform decisions.
  • Ensure trainees are informed about firm news and regulatory updates related to legal practice.
  • Prepare reports on graduate recruitment statistics for the Management Board.
  • Conduct competitor analysis to identify best practices and continuously improve our approach to trainee development.
  • Collaborate with the Learning & Development team to organize induction programs and qualification courses for all trainees.
  • Liaise with HR and Employee Relations on any issues related to trainees.
  • Work closely with practice groups and Knowledge Management lawyers to develop and refine the trainee training program.
  • Stay abreast of SRA regulations, ensuring compliance and managing our relationship with the University of Law as our SQE training provider.
  • Directly manage a team of 4 individuals and provide guidance to an additional L&D team member.
