Job Title: Early Careers Development Manager

Clyde & Co is seeking a highly skilled Early Careers Development Manager to join our team. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and training of our early careers professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of our early careers professionals.
  • Work closely with our Training Principal to allocate training seats, review progress, and provide career counselling and support.
  • Partner with our Casualty business to develop a qualification pathway through our Paralegal Academy and oversee the participants on that pathway.
  • Collaborate with the business and HR team to build an apprentice and early years career strategy using data-led decisions.
  • Ensure our future trainees are kept up-to-date with firm news and manage issues surrounding routes to admission.
  • Report on graduate recruitment statistics to the Management Board for firm-wide discussion.
  • Monitor competitors and continuously improve our approach, working with the Learning and Development team to organize the trainee induction program and qualification course.
  • Liaise with HR and Employee Relations on any issues.
  • Work with practice groups and Knowledge Management lawyers to develop the trainee training program.
  • Keep up-to-date on SRA regulations and ensure the firm is compliant with regulatory requirements, managing the relationship with the University of Law as our training provider for the SQE.
  • Direct management of 4 team members and dotted line of an additional L&D team member.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Proven managerial experience in Early Careers development, preferably within legal or professional services.
  • Understanding of the SQE to further develop our SQE approach and ensure compliance with SRA regulations.
  • Excellent client service orientation, first-rate communication skills, and ability to work with fee earners and staff at all levels.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, ability to think critically and proactively, with good judgment and problem-solving.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and respond to multiple service requests, often while working under tight time constraints.
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to build credibility quickly, inspiring confidence and respect at all levels.
  • Experience of managing and motivating direct reports.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment across HR and the wider firm.
