Job Title: Early Careers Development Manager

Clyde & Co is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Early Careers Development Manager to join our team. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and growth of our early careers professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the skills and knowledge of our early careers professionals, ensuring they have the necessary tools to succeed in their roles.
  • Collaborate with our Training Principal to allocate training contracts, review progress, and provide career counselling and support to our trainees.
  • Work closely with our Casualty business to develop and deliver training programs for our paralegal academy participants.
  • Partner with our business and HR teams to build a comprehensive early careers strategy, using data-driven insights to inform our decisions.
  • Ensure our early careers professionals are kept informed about firm news and developments, and manage issues related to routes to admission.
  • Provide regular reports on graduate recruitment statistics to our Management Board.
  • Monitor our competitors and continuously improve our approach to early careers development.
  • Liaise with HR and Employee Relations on any issues.
  • Work with our practice groups and Knowledge Management lawyers to develop our trainee training program.
  • Stay up-to-date on SRA regulations and ensure the firm is compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Directly manage a team of 4 members and have a dotted line relationship with an additional L&D team member.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Proven experience in early careers development, preferably in a legal or professional services environment.
  • Understanding of the SQE and its implications for our early careers strategy.
  • Excellent client service orientation, communication skills, and ability to work with fee earners and staff at all levels.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to think critically and proactively.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and respond to multiple service requests, often under tight time constraints.
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to build credibility quickly.
  • Experience of managing and motivating direct reports.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment across HR and the wider firm.
