Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated, innovative, and enthusiastic Anaesthetic and Recovery Specialists to become integral members of our expanding surgical teams. Our focus is on delivering exceptional patient care within a collaborative environment.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must possess a recognized anaesthetic course or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) qualification.

Your role will involve the coordination and delivery of patient care, adhering to professional standards while enhancing the overall patient experience and outcomes.

You will serve as a role model, fostering a positive image of the team and organization, while promoting equitable care by acknowledging and addressing the diverse needs of patients.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must hold an anaesthetic course or ODP qualification.

Working within a comprehensive theatre environment, you will engage in a variety of surgical specialties, including but not limited to robotic surgery, urology, orthopaedics, and emergency procedures.

Due to the nature of our services, you will be expected to participate in a 24-hour operational unit, which includes twilight shifts, weekends, and night duties.

Strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work autonomously while closely collaborating with the surgical team and managing a demanding workload.

Job Duties

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in accordance with established standards and guidelines.
  • Continuously develop clinical skills in line with local and national standards.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the role of Anaesthetic and Recovery Practitioner by obtaining a nationally recognized qualification.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures while adapting to evidence-based practice changes.
  • Maintain essential scrub skills for ODP.
  • Champion patient safety and promote best practices.
  • Ensure a safe and compliant environment for patient care.
  • Proactively manage risks and uphold patient safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team and external organizations to ensure seamless care.
  • Engage in personal professional development and support the growth of junior staff and students.
  • Foster a positive learning environment for all learners.
  • Coordinate learning opportunities for students and provide necessary support.
  • Maintain and enhance personal professional competence and seek to expand knowledge and skills.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Registered nurse or ODP with current professional registration.
  • Completion of a post-registration anaesthetic course if not an ODP.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Basic IT proficiency.

Desirable

  • Experience in IV drug administration.
  • Skills in venepuncture and cannulation.
  • Relevant degree.
  • Mentorship qualification or willingness to pursue one.
