About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Junior Clinical Fellow in Anaesthetics to join our team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Anaesthetic Directorate, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide anaesthetic services across our hospital sites, working closely with our multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participate in the trainee anaesthetic rota, including additional cover during colleagues' absences, to ensure continuity of care.
  • Assume a continuous commitment to the care of patients, even if employed less than full-time, and ensure adequate arrangements are made for leave and off-duty periods.
  • Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients, both through direct patient care and by maintaining continuing professional development.
  • Exercise the freedom to assist in the development of specialist elements of our services, reflecting perceived priorities within available resources.
  • Undertake administrative duties involved with the care of patients, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Promote high professional standards of clinical care of patients and the health and safety of our theatre environment.
  • Maintain continuing education and professional development, at least to the requirements of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate who meets the following essential criteria:

  • Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • By date of commencement, will have completed less than three years of training in anaesthesia or have equivalent experience or competencies

Desirable criteria include:

  • APLS/EPALS or equivalent
  • ATLS/ETC or equivalent
  • Evidence of commitment to medical education, including further qualifications
  • Primary FRCA or equivalent
  • ALS or equivalent
  • Trained clinical supervisor
  • Initial assessment of competency in Anaesthesia (IAC)
