Palliative Care Nursing Associate

Position Overview
At Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care around the clock. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in a variety of shifts throughout the day and night. While primarily stationed in the Inpatient Unit, there may be occasions to work in other care environments to ensure optimal staffing and broaden experience in hospice care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exemplary Specialist Palliative and End of Life nursing care as a vital member of the In-Patient Unit multidisciplinary team.
- Assist the Registered Nurse in delivering high-quality, patient-focused care that is holistic and responsive to the evolving needs of patients.
- Uphold the vision and values of Rennie Grove Peace in all aspects of care and professional conduct.
- As the designated nurse, oversee and deliver comprehensive nursing care for a specific group of patients during each shift.
- Accept accountability for personal actions and decisions, always prioritizing the best interests of patients.
- Recognize and operate within the boundaries of professional competence as outlined by the NMC Code of Conduct.
- Serve as an ambassador for Rennie Grove Peace within the community.

Job Duties
- Act as a mentor and role model for students and junior staff, fostering their professional development.
- Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and patient consent, adhering to hospice privacy policies.
- Ensure compliance with all hospice policies, best practice guidelines, and clinical protocols to guarantee safe and effective practice.
- Conduct comprehensive holistic assessments that address the physical, emotional, spiritual, and practical needs of patients and their families.
- Take responsibility for patient assessments, care planning, and the delivery of safe, compassionate care while evaluating its effectiveness.
- Develop, update, and monitor individualized care plans that are centered around the unique needs of each patient.
- Undertake specific project responsibilities that contribute to the advancement of service delivery.
- Safeguard the privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of patients and their families in accordance with organizational policies and data protection regulations.
- Participate in the establishment of care standards and contribute to clinical governance and audit initiatives.
Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register.
- Minimum of GCSE qualifications, including Mathematics and English.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent Care Certificate.
Experience
Essential
- Proficient in IT and capable of utilizing electronic record systems following training.
Desirable
- Background in Palliative Care or long-term condition management.
- Experience working with volunteers.

- Ability to recognize when to seek guidance and refer to registered health or care professionals.
- Proficient understanding of technology, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in administrative tasks.
- Sensitivity to the needs of volunteers and clients, particularly those who may have experienced bereavement.
