About the Role

Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Specialty Doctor to join our multidisciplinary team. As a Palliative Medicine Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, holistic care to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical leadership and mentorship to junior medical team members, supervising their clinical practice and providing guidance and support.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical governance processes, participating in patient safety activities, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Represent the medical team at external meetings and participate in service development within local healthcare systems.
  • Share in the provision of holistic medical care, working closely with other members of the medical and wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Review patients attending the medical outpatient clinic and support patients at home.
  • Keep accurate, clear, and up-to-date medical records.
  • Contribute to educational programs provided by the hospice for multidisciplinary health professionals.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, clinical, and audit meetings.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Eligibility for full registration with, and a current license to practice from the GMC.
  • Evidence of achievement of foundation competencies from a UKFPO-affiliated foundation program or equivalent.
  • Advanced communication skills training.
  • At least 4 years of full-time postgraduate medical experience, with at least 2 years in Palliative Medicine or an allied specialty.
  • Experience of teaching to various audiences.
  • Evidence of experience in clinical audit.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and recognize when medical leadership is required.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Sensitivity and understanding of the needs of volunteers and customers.
