About the Role

The Specialty Doctor Palliative Medicine will be a member of a multidisciplinary team providing high-quality, holistic care and medical leadership within this team. The post holder will work flexibly alongside colleagues to provide the best possible service for patients and those close to them.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide a medical service to Rennie Grove Peace hospice inpatients, outpatients, and patients in the community setting.
  • Lead and mentor junior medical team members, supervising their clinical practice and providing guidance, support, and training.
  • Contribute to wider multidisciplinary team education and participate in teaching healthcare professionals both internally and externally.
  • Input into clinical governance processes to maintain high-quality services through participation in patient safety activities, audits, and quality improvement activities.
  • Represent the medical team at external meetings when required and be involved in service development within local systems.

Key Requirements

  • Hold an MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Be eligible for full registration with, and hold a current license to practice from the GMC.
  • Have evidence of achievement of foundation competencies from a UKFPO-affiliated foundation programme or equivalent.
  • Have a minimum of 4 years full-time postgraduate medical experience, with at least 2 years in Palliative Medicine or an allied specialty.
  • Have experience of teaching to various audiences and participating in clinical audit.
