Role Responsibilities

The team at Welbeck Health Partners is on the lookout for committed Consultant Anaesthetists to spearhead the administration of intravenous anaesthesia and sedation, alongside providing comprehensive peri-procedural care. You will collaborate with fellow Consultant Anaesthetists to ensure optimal coverage across our procedure rooms, operating five days a week. Additionally, you will engage in quality improvement initiatives and performance enhancement activities.

Required Qualifications
  • Full registration with the GMC and a valid licence to practice
  • Proof of qualifications as a Consultant Anaesthetist, including a primary medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
  • FRCA or equivalent, with evidence of completed higher specialist training
  • Registration on the Specialist Register for Anaesthesia
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Consultant within the UK's National Health Service
  • Current Adult Life Support certification
  • Evidence of malpractice indemnity relevant to the scope of practice
  • Demonstrated experience in administering local anaesthesia, conscious sedation, and general anaesthesia
Training and Quality Assurance
  • Experience in conducting audits
  • Active participation in quality improvement and audit processes
  • Proven experience in teaching multidisciplinary teams in acute medical scenarios
  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) with evidence for annual appraisal

Core Duties & Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates understanding of growth and development principles, providing age-appropriate care
  • Administers anaesthesia in accordance with established protocols
  • Promotes a culture of safety and quality within the practice
  • Conducts thorough pre-anaesthesia assessments and interviews with patients
  • Manages medications effectively, adhering to established guidelines
  • Complies with infection control policies and safe injection practices
  • Maintains patient oversight as necessary, ensuring continuity of care
  • Accurately documents all aspects of anaesthesia and sedation provided
  • Conducts post-anaesthesia assessments and documents findings appropriately
  • Advocates for patients to ensure safe delivery of care
  • Engages in discussions regarding anaesthetic plans when risks are identified
  • Ensures proper discharge processes in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Treats patients and their families with dignity and respect
  • Identifies and addresses the psychosocial needs of patients and families
  • Documents narcotic usage and waste in compliance with policies
  • Responds effectively to emergency situations requiring anaesthesia expertise
  • Checks resuscitative equipment prior to procedures and reports any issues
  • Ensures documentation meets current standards and follows established policies
  • Adheres to the bylaws of the Medical Staff
Language Proficiency
  • Proficient in English (comprehension, reading, and writing)
  • For international candidates, proof of passing English language exams and provisional GMC registration is required.
