The team at Welbeck Health Partners is looking to recruit dedicated Consultant Anaesthetists to oversee and administer intravenous anaesthesia and sedation, as well as provide comprehensive peri-procedural care. You will collaborate with fellow Consultant Anaesthetists to ensure effective coverage across multiple procedure rooms operating throughout the week. Additionally, you will engage in performance enhancement and quality assurance initiatives.
Key Qualifications- Full registration with the GMC and a valid licence to practice
- Proven qualifications as a Consultant Anaesthetist, including a primary medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
- FRCA or equivalent with proof of completion of higher specialist training
- Registered on the Specialist Register for Anaesthesia
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Consultant within the UK healthcare system
- Current Adult Life Support certification
- Evidence of malpractice indemnity covering the scope of practice
- Demonstrated experience in administering local anaesthesia, conscious sedation, and general anaesthesia
- Experience in conducting audits
- Active participation in quality improvement initiatives
- Experience in training multidisciplinary teams in acute medical situations
- Commitment to continuing professional development with the ability to present evidence for annual appraisal
- Strong organisational abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Leadership capabilities
- Positive engagement with multidisciplinary team members and support services
- Knowledgeable in growth and development principles, providing age-appropriate care
- Competent in administering anaesthesia as per the governing body’s approval
- Fosters a culture of safety and quality in care delivery
- Conducts all aspects of anaesthesia care prioritising patient safety and minimising healthcare errors
- Engages with patients for pre-anaesthesia assessments prior to procedures
- Efficiently manages medications according to established protocols and policies
- Adheres to infection control policies and safe injection practices
- Maintains patient presence as required by their condition until care is transferred to qualified personnel
- Communicates effectively regarding patient conditions and ongoing care requirements
- Accurately documents all aspects of anaesthesia care and airway management techniques
- Conducts post-anaesthesia assessments and records follow-up visits, including any complications
- Advocates for patients to ensure safe care delivery
- Assists in patient selection and discusses anaesthetic plans when risks are identified
- Manages patient discharge from recovery in accordance with established criteria
- Treats patients and families with respect and dignity
- Identifies and addresses the psychosocial needs of patients and families
- Documents narcotic usage and waste in compliance with policies
- Responds to emergencies requiring anaesthesia expertise
- Inspects resuscitative equipment before the start of procedures and reports any issues
- Ensures documentation meets current standards and adheres to policies
- Complies with the bylaws of the medical staff
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, and comprehension)
- For international candidates, proof of passing English language exams and provisional GMC registration is required.
