We are seeking a video journalist to join our dynamic video team, ensuring that audience needs on our platforms and social networks are prioritized in our daily operations. You will not only transform significant news stories into engaging videos but also influence the editorial choices we make.

This position allows for flexible working arrangements, with a connection to our Glasgow Hub.

Role Overview:

As a Video Journalist for the Daily Record, your primary responsibility will be to produce high-quality, shareable video content that resonates with our audience across various social media platforms. You will possess a sharp news sense, a thorough understanding of social media trends, and the ability to convert stories into compelling visual narratives.

You will be adept at analyzing your own work through data, discerning audience preferences, and identifying strategies for our brands to connect with new viewers through outstanding content.

In this role, you will collaborate with editors daily to pinpoint the stories we should highlight through video, focusing on expanding our brands into new areas and identifying fresh topics for coverage across all platforms.

This role may require weekend and evening shifts, so a flexible approach is essential.

Candidate Profile:

We are looking for individuals who excel at creating outstanding video content for social media channels, ideally within news organizations. You should be comfortable in front of the camera as well as skilled in editing and production. Proficiency in operating the new video studio at our Glasgow office is expected. A deep understanding of social media platforms and their algorithms is crucial, along with a willingness to experiment with new tools, including AI. An NCTJ qualification or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory.
