London Greater, United Kingdom PROSPECTUS-4 Full time
About the Organization:

Our client provides a vital listening service dedicated to the LGBTQIA+ communities across the UK. This initiative creates a secure environment for individuals to discuss various subjects, including sexuality, gender identity, sexual health, and emotional wellness.

With over 17,000 interactions annually, the demand for their services continues to grow. Their network of volunteers plays a crucial role in offering support to individuals in need while also providing valuable insights into the challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community.

In recent years, the organization has embarked on a mission to build a dedicated staff team to manage daily operations within the charity.

Position Overview:

As they expand their team, they are introducing a new role aimed at enhancing their volunteer engagement strategy.

This full-time position operates on a hybrid model, requiring two days of in-office work weekly, with the remainder of the time being flexible.

Key Responsibilities:

This newly established role will be part of the charity's support line and will report directly to the Head of Volunteering and Training.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with key operational teams led by volunteers.

As the organization aims to improve its scheduling efficiency, they plan to recruit and train approximately 100 new volunteers, increasing total membership to around 350.

This number is expected to rise annually, enabling the service to manage all incoming calls, messages, and emails effectively.

To achieve this, the charity is committed to ensuring that new volunteers feel valued, welcomed, and integrated into a vibrant and inclusive community.

The role encompasses overseeing four primary areas: volunteer social events, wellbeing initiatives, celebratory activities, and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) efforts.

This position is essential for fostering a supportive environment that retains, nurtures, and engages volunteers, ensuring the community reflects the rich diversity of the broader LGBTQIA+ population.

The responsibilities include organizing a variety of in-person and virtual engagement events throughout the year, managing Pride activities for future events, coordinating volunteer recognition programs, and implementing wellbeing initiatives to uphold the charity's commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in organizing and executing social and professional events of varying scales.

They should have a strong background in EDI initiatives and a genuine interest or experience in promoting workplace wellbeing.

Exceptional interpersonal skills are crucial, as the success of this role heavily relies on effective communication and relationship-building.

A broad understanding of the challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community is essential, as these issues will also impact the charity's volunteer network.

Experience in managing social gatherings in both professional and volunteer contexts, along with the ability to analyze data for effectiveness and impact, is required.

The candidate should be adept at managing relationships with third-party suppliers and contractors, demonstrating a collaborative and empathetic approach to enhancing volunteer experiences.

Comfort with public speaking and engaging diverse audiences is necessary, as is a high level of organization and a strong commitment to the charity's mission.

Flexibility in location is important, as the candidate will be responsible for managing in-person events as needed.

The charity is dedicated to building a team that reflects the communities it serves, actively encouraging applications from individuals with lived experiences and from all marginalized groups.
