Key Responsibilities

The primary objective of this role is to conduct ethnographic research within informal extractive economies in Amazonia. You will collaborate closely with a remote sensing expert and a team of ethnographers to gather comprehensive ethnographic data regarding the social, legal, and technical aspects of small-scale extraction activities in the region.

In this capacity, you will:

1. Work alongside the Principal Investigator, research team, and software developers to co-develop an interdisciplinary project workplan and analytical framework.
2. Engage in data collection in Amazonia focusing on at least one of the project's thematic areas.

Candidate Profile

You should demonstrate exceptional organizational, communication, and presentation skills, along with a proven ability to engage in interdisciplinary collaborative efforts.

This role necessitates travel to South America for data collection and collaboration with partners. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in South American policy, environmental issues, or extraction, as well as proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese.
