Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary contact for projects and communicate effectively and professionally with National Centre for Social Research staff, as well as external clients and collaborators.
  • Make substantial contributions to the overall design and execution of research projects.
  • Develop and evaluate quantitative data collection tools and other relevant survey materials, including interviewer briefings.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis to a high standard.
  • Draft proposals, presentations, and reports suitable for external audiences.
  • Acquire a solid understanding of policy and/or methodological areas.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement in the design of the National Centre for Social Research's flagship studies.
  • Assist in promoting the National Centre for Social Research's work externally.
  • Uphold and promote high ethical and information security standards.
While the departments operate in a broadly similar manner across the Lead Social Researcher grade, some minor differences may occur. Perform any other reasonable duties that the National Centre for Social Research may require that align with the broad nature of the role.

Skills, Knowledge, and ExpertiseEssential:
  • Undergraduate degree.
  • Strong understanding of various research methodologies, with a focus on surveys.
  • Knowledge of quantitative research techniques.
  • Demonstrated history of managing and delivering high-quality research projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
  • Robust quantitative research skills and experience in conducting research surveys and managing and analyzing the resulting data.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and oral) with the ability to convey information clearly, in various styles, and for diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management capabilities and the ability to perform well under pressure while managing deadlines effectively.
  • Experience in fostering positive relationships with clients/funders/partners.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.
Desirable:
  • Experience in managing, delivering, and conducting social research surveys.
  • Experience in supporting the writing of proposals for research projects and/or assisting in the development of grant funding applications.
  • Relevant postgraduate degree.
  • Experience in managing and/or analyzing data using statistical software.
  • Experience in conducting surveys online and/or with probability-based samples.
