Autism Specialist English Teacher Position

Job Summary:
Tradewind Recruitment is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an English Teacher to join our team at a specialist SEND school for autism in West Cumbria.
About the Role:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced English Teacher to work with secondary-aged pupils with autism. The successful candidate will have a passion for teaching English and be able to engage and inspire students in a specialised SEN setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach English to secondary-aged pupils with autism, with a focus on leading English classes
- Develop and implement engaging and inclusive lesson plans to meet the needs of students with autism
- Work collaboratively with the teaching team to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Assess and report on student progress, using data to inform teaching practice
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of the school's English curriculum
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
- Demonstrable experience and passion for teaching English
- Ability to engage and inspire students in a specialised SEN setting
- Are able to demonstrate resilience, patience and a positive approach to behaviour management
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual student needs
- Fully enhanced DBS check
