Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Worker to join the Forensic Autism Service based at Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. The team accepts referrals from the whole of the Trust footprint.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide person-centred care to adults aged over 16 with autism and who have forensic risk and other complex needs.
  • Balance the care and support needs of the individual as well as managing risk.
  • Maintain high levels of evidence-based clinical practice, contributing to and facilitating Care Processes and Pathways.
  • Provide full assessments of individual's needs and provide appropriate action and intervention.
  • Support the team around safeguarding and linking in with local authorities.
  • Work with and support carers as well as service users.
About the Team

The Forensic Autism Service is a dynamic and enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team providing care to adults with autism and forensic risk. The team offers regular group supervision and case formulation slots to provide support and development to team members in working with this complex client group.

Requirements
  • CQSW, CSS, DipSW or equivalent Registration with Social Work England Evidence of continuing professional development Degree qualification in relevant subject or demonstrable evidence or equivalent experience relevant to field of practice (autism and/or forensic risk).
  • Experience and knowledge of working with autistic people Experience and knowledge of working in forensic settings and with individuals who have forensic risk MSC/Diploma in relevant area.
  • Knowledge of the Trusts information sharing protocols Be compliant and competent with regards to Information governance including Data Protection Act Able to manage change Good interpersonal skills A critical understanding of detailed theoretical and practical knowledge and actively integrates theory and practice.
  • 36 months post qualifying experience, including 12months working within autism or forensic services Able to take responsibility for decision making in unpredictable work contexts Demonstrate leadership skills within the service Competent in Management or direction of others Experience in promoting the development of others Demonstrates innovation in terms and methods used.
