At Birmingham Children's Trust, we are proud to celebrate our GOOD Ofsted status, marking an exciting period for our organization.

The Children with Disabilities Service is a specialized, locality-based initiative that provides social care assessments and support for children and young individuals aged 0-18 who have complex and significant disabilities, along with their families.

Our service is comprehensive, guiding children from the referral stage through their entire journey with Birmingham Children's Trust. If additional support is required post-assessment, the child will continue to work with the same Social Worker, whether under child in need processes or child protection processes if there are safeguarding concerns.

Our teams collaborate with a multi-disciplinary network surrounding the child to ensure timely and focused assessments and planning, aimed at helping disabled children and young people to remain safe, healthy, engage in education, achieve their aspirations, and lead as independent lives as possible while transitioning into adulthood.

While prior knowledge of disabilities is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite as we provide support to develop this understanding.

This role specifically covers the eastern region of the city.

Working within our Trust offers a unique opportunity to gain a diverse range of professional experiences and exceptional development. You will manage a reasonable caseload, supported by strong management and key professional networks.

Our organization’s size allows you to build your entire social work career here, experiencing all facets of social work, thus enabling your progression in practice and management.

By joining us, you will be able to engage in the meaningful work you aspired to do in social work. As an independent organization, we focus solely on the safety and welfare of children and young people across the city, while also prioritizing your well-being.

You will operate within our relationship-based, trauma-informed, family-led practice model. We expect you to analyze the information provided to make informed decisions. You will conduct all assessments in accordance with statutory requirements and will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and reviewing children's well-being during multi-agency meetings.

Our services are always interconnected, and you will cultivate strong partnerships with other teams and external agencies, including police, health services, schools, and voluntary organizations.

There has never been a more opportune moment to join Birmingham Children's Trust and advance your career.

Our vision is to establish a Trust that delivers outstanding social work and family support for and with the city's most vulnerable children, young people, and families.

About You...

We seek a passionate, motivated, and dedicated Social Worker who has completed their ASYE and is eager to work with children and families to positively impact their lives.

You should be capable of building effective relationships, conducting thorough assessments, and confidently collaborating with children, families, and professionals, ensuring their full involvement in assessment, planning, review, and decision-making processes.

You must be able to work independently while also being a vital team player.

A recognized social work qualification and current active registration with Social Work England are essential.

What Sets Us Apart as a Trust...

We recognize that being a social worker can be demanding and challenging, which is why we offer an attractive employment package and excellent benefits.

In addition to regular supervision, access to training, and shared learning, we provide mental health and well-being support, competitive rewards, a pension scheme, a generous annual leave package of 30 days plus bank holidays, a 'Golden Hello', and a retention payment from day one for the first two years of service, along with our recently launched Salary Sacrifice Car Leasing Scheme.

If you are committed to continuous improvement and wish to be part of our dedicated social work team, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.
