Position Overview

This role is situated within the Records and Knowledge Management division of the Department for Business and Trade's Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in KIM, with substantial experience in handling both physical and digital records. The successful applicant will collaborate across the department to implement effective records management policies and procedures.

This is a pivotal moment to join the Department for Business and Trade, an organization central to the UK's engagement with the global economy. We also facilitate partnerships between international firms and UK suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

The Records Review Manager will oversee the management of both paper and digital records. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in a new digital sensitivity review initiative while fostering relationships and expanding your expertise.

Primary duties include:

  • Leading initiatives to manage historical and legacy departmental records, both paper and digital
  • Evaluating records for potential archiving, disposal, or transfer to the National Archives
  • Collaborating with other KIM teams on the sensitivity review of departmental records
  • Partnering with other government entities on shared records management initiatives, aligning with cross-government goals
  • Engaging with Subject Matter Experts and Information Asset Owners to gain insights into departmental records
  • Serving as the primary contact for the Records and Knowledge Team regarding legacy records
  • Promoting effective knowledge and information management practices within teams, proactively managing risks
  • Encouraging the adoption of records management benefits and enhancing behaviors throughout the department
  • Connecting with the KIM community across government
  • Collaborating with the broader team to support the objectives of the KIM department

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience in a Knowledge and Information Management setting
  • Familiarity with records management legislation and the lifecycle of physical records
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience utilizing SharePoint and MS Teams
  • Background in Sensitivity Review processes
