Job Overview

We are pleased to announce a fantastic opportunity to become a pivotal member of our vibrant team at Velindre University NHS Trust as the Lead Medical Records Coordinator.

In this role, you will oversee the Medical Secretarial team within the Health Records department, ensuring the delivery of a proficient and effective medical secretarial service to Consultant Oncologists and their respective teams.

Key Responsibilities

You will collaborate closely with all stakeholders to enhance service efficiency and effectiveness. The successful candidate will assess tasks, foster teamwork to boost productivity, and minimize redundant efforts, thereby enriching job satisfaction. You will supervise the daily operations of the secretarial staff, including managing annual leave and ensuring adequate secretarial coverage. Additionally, you will monitor and address the training requirements of your team, providing essential guidance.

You will be accountable for managing Health Records Systems in line with Trust and Departmental policies regarding Record Management Standards and procedures. Training will also be provided to staff within the Health Records and other departments across Velindre NHS Trust on Health Records matters.

The Lead Medical Records Coordinator will also offer support to the Health Records Library Team Lead as necessary to maintain service continuity.

Proficiency in Welsh is preferred for this position; applications are welcomed from both Welsh and English speakers.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • In-depth knowledge of Health Records Management
  • Demonstrated commitment to Continuous Professional Development
  • Experience interacting with various staff disciplines.
  • Specialized knowledge of Health Records systems

Desirable

  • Degree in Health Informatics
  • IQT Silver accreditation
  • Medical Secretarial Diploma
  • Familiarity with NHS systems
  • Supervisory or Team Leader experience
