Who We Are Seeking

Your primary responsibility will involve managing the official reports and financial documentation of our Investment Trusts. You should possess a sharp analytical mindset and sufficient expertise in statutory reporting to identify and rectify any discrepancies.

We are looking for an individual who can mentor team members and ensure that tasks are completed to a high standard. This role offers the opportunity to engage in various projects across multiple teams and countries.

You will supervise the financial operations of nine investment trusts, where the accounting, administration, and tax functions are delegated to third-party service providers. This position also entails overseeing the Custodian Bank and Depositary appointments, as well as collaborating with the designated auditors for each Trust. There is potential to utilize this expertise in managing other fund structures as well.

Your Responsibilities

• Supervise the third-party administrator responsible for the preparation of interim and annual financial reports.
• Maintain and enhance a robust internal control framework that supports the technical accounting reviews of financial statements.
• Engage with auditors at a senior level, oversee the audit process, and manage the resolution of queries.
• Collaborate closely with the Company Secretariat on all fund accounting matters, including scheduling, market disclosures, and regulatory submissions.
• Attend and contribute to audit committee and fund board meetings.
• Stay informed on industry and technical developments, including the analysis and application of regulatory updates.
• Manage the control environment, ensuring adherence to all controls, with timely escalation of any exceptions.
• Ensure compliance with group supplier oversight policies.
• Prepare and/or review various financial documents for board meetings.
• Oversee forecasting, budget management, and dividend recommendations.
• Monitor and control fund operating expenses and director compensation.
• Manage bank loan servicing and oversee corporation tax and VAT submissions.
• Mentor and support team members to foster development and enhance individual skill sets.
• Contribute to the delivery of management information and key performance indicators to senior management.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Qualified or part-qualified accountant, or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks affecting UK Investment Trusts.
• Experience in a financial reporting environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel.
• Understanding of fund operations and the investment management sector.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in reporting implementation projects.
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams across various European locations.
• Familiarity with outsourced fund accounting models.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks across EMEA (UK/Lux/US GAAP).
• Understanding of various fund structures, including Unit Trusts, OEICs, SICAVs, ICAVs, and Private asset funds.
• Experience in setting workloads and managing priorities.
