Manager of Investment Trust Compliance

Who We Are Seeking
Your primary responsibility will involve overseeing the official reports and financial statements of our Investment Trusts. You should possess a sharp analytical mindset and a solid understanding of statutory reporting to identify and rectify any discrepancies.
We are looking for an individual who can mentor team members and ensure that tasks are completed with excellence. This role offers the opportunity to engage in various projects across multiple teams and countries.
You will manage the financial operations of several investment trusts, with accounting, administration, and tax functions outsourced to third-party service providers. Additionally, you will oversee the Custodian Bank and Depositary appointments and collaborate with the designated auditors for each Trust. There is potential to apply this expertise to other fund structures as well.

Your Work Responsibilities
• Supervise the third-party administrator responsible for generating interim and annual reports and accounts.
• Maintain and enhance a robust internal control framework that supports the technical accounting reviews of financial statements.
• Engage with auditors at a senior level, oversee the audit process, and manage the resolution of inquiries.
• Collaborate closely with the Company Secretariat on all fund accounting matters, including scheduling, market releases, and regulatory submissions.
• Attend and participate in audit committee and fund board meetings.
• Stay informed about industry and technical developments, including the analysis and application of regulatory updates, such as AIC SORP changes.
• Manage the control environment, ensuring adherence to all controls and timely escalation of any exceptions.
• Ensure compliance with group supplier oversight policies.
• Prepare and/or review various financial documents for board meetings.
• Oversee forecasting, expense budgets, and dividend recommendations.
• Monitor and control fund operating expenses and director payroll.
• Manage bank loan servicing and oversee corporation tax and VAT returns.
• Coach and support team members to foster development and enhance individual skill sets.
• Contribute to the delivery of management information and key performance indicators to senior management.
Required Knowledge, Experience, and Qualifications
• Qualified or part-qualified accountant, or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks affecting UK Investment Trusts.
• Experience in a financial reporting function.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel.
• Understanding of fund operations and the investment management sector.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, and Qualifications
• Experience in reporting implementation projects.
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams across various European locations.
• Background in an outsourced fund accounting model.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks across EMEA (UK/Lux/US GAAP).
• Familiarity with various fund structures, including Unit Trusts, OEICs, SICAVs, ICAVs, and Private asset funds.
• Experience in setting workloads and managing priorities.
