Chelmsford, Essex, United Kingdom Teledyne UK Limited Full time

Overview

Teledyne UK Limited stands at the forefront of specialized components and subsystems, delivering innovative solutions across various sectors including medical, scientific, aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. With a workforce exceeding 1600 across Europe, America, and Asia, we are a global leader in our field.

We are currently in search of a Programme Manager to enhance our RF Power division. Candidates must possess eligibility for Security Clearance.

This role may also involve engagement with projects related to advanced technologies such as radiotherapy for cancer treatment, radar systems, satellite communication amplifiers, industrial heating solutions, cargo screening technologies, and digital television transmitters.

This position offers the chance to collaborate with a team of highly skilled engineers, technicians, and scientists.

Key Responsibilities:

We are looking for a dedicated Programme Manager who is committed to overseeing strategic R&D and customer-funded initiatives.

You will be expected to quickly integrate into ongoing projects, ensuring product delivery to clients and achieving revenue targets through effective management and leadership of a cross-functional team comprising over 10 engineers and technical personnel. This role is heavily product-focused and will also encompass the management of additional projects and some bidding activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading cross-disciplinary teams of engineers and manufacturing personnel to ensure timely project delivery, adhering to budget and quality standards. Applying effective project management methodologies consistently and demonstrating compliance with established project management processes. Setting a strong example for your team, guiding them to meet targets while mentoring junior team members. Building robust relationships with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure clear communication of goals and objectives. Developing detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project and managing updates through the MS Project Server system. Establishing appropriate Phase Gate Reviews for projects and ensuring timely execution. Clearly defining, documenting, and managing project scope in collaboration with customers, whether internal or external. Identifying project risks, issues, and dependencies, and seeking resolutions prior to escalation. Collaborating with the Finance Team to set and monitor budgets, ensuring the availability and analysis of relevant data such as schedule-derived estimates to complete (ETCs) and risk cost exposure. Preparing project dashboards and presenting monthly status updates to the Senior Leadership Team. Working alongside Business Development, Engineering, and Programme Directors to formulate technical and commercial solutions that meet customer needs.

Required Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

Extensive experience managing engineering projects throughout various lifecycle stages, particularly from bidding to production, with a focus on production. Proven ability to energize teams to meet critical deadlines and deliver successful projects. Strong capability to manage customer expectations and prevent scope creep. Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with all levels of the organization. Strong problem-solving skills. Sound judgment in determining when to take ownership of issues and when to escalate them. Proficiency in project management and resource tools such as MS Project and MS Project Server or similar enterprise project management software. Familiarity with SAP is advantageous. Knowledge and certification in APM Body of Knowledge, PRINCE2, PMP methodologies, or equivalent frameworks.

Due to the sensitive nature of certain projects, candidates must either hold or be eligible for security clearance and be UK Nationals.

At Teledyne, we uphold the highest ethical standards in our business practices. We expect all employees to comply with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines. Our commitment to integrity and high ethical standards is as crucial as our dedication to delivering innovative sensing solutions.
